The Muffin Tops

For those of you who don't know me or have never read this blog before, I need to start off by saying that I'm a pretty big fan of Seinfeld. This may come as a surprise to some you, but even 10 years after the show went off the air, I watch it all the time. I DVR it & as it turns out, it's on almost non-stop so whenever the mood strikes, it's there. Another show I DVR is Hannah Montana (learn more about Hannah @ The Hannah Zone... not to be confused w/ The Phil Zone); of course, it's not quite as high on my viewing priorities list, but the other morning, the kids were watching it & I heard the strangest commercial from the other room. At first, I thought it was a joke, but as it turns out, it was actually no laughing matter. Kellogg's has finally, after nearly 11 years of waiting, cashed in on Elaine's Muffin Tops idea. I haven't tried them yet, but they look horrible. I think they seemed to miss the boat in terms of freshness & softness. I can't prove it, but I doubt they're throwing away the stumps & w/o making them w/ the stumps, they aren't really just the tops... the top becomes the entire thing. In fact, it's always/already the entire muffin. Or, on the flip side, w/o a bottom, the top is indeterminate & always indeterminable. Which begs the question, "The top of what?" The commercial also left me wondering if Seinfeld & Larry David are getting a piece of that fat muffin top cash. Not that they really need it, but it seems like some sort of Intelectual Property violation or @ least a copyright infringemnt. Maybe I should cash in on her other ideas & start marketing bras as tops.

From the picture, they look more like scones. But I can't imagine that frozen mass produced scones would be any better/worse than mass produced muffin parts.
Seeing that commertial for the first time was absolutly hilarious! Glad to see it made the blog.

who knows... maybe they ARE getting paid with a cut of the smokin' hot muffin top action.

or... maybe some junior product development/ad executive at Eggo just completely ran out of ideas and was scraping the bottom of the creativity barrel. This was the kind of ridiculous idea they came up with, built a production line for, included into national distribution networks, and ended up with - a product that looks repulsive and will likely fail miserably. All because some sort of Socially Promoted "Jo Mediocrity" up on the 6th floor in "Business Development" was called on the carpet in a board meeting when the quarterly revenue was down and all they could think of at the time to save their sad excuse for a job was to regurgitate the Seinfeld rerun that was on Lifetime last night.

Gotta suck for the people working at the Eggo Muffin Top factory though. To suffer through such product experiments when they could just as easily be making millions of toaster owner-operators happy with their delightful cinnamon toast mini-waffles.

i thought this was going to be about people who wear low-cute pants too tight and let the fat hang out - you know, those kind of muffin tops! Low and behold, for once you were not being sarcastic!

Panera also sells something like a muffin top - they are called "muffies" and they are delicious.

Well, the people have spoke... 2 requests for a post about people w/ fat billowing out above of their pants. I'll get on it.

As for eating "muffies," I'll pass on the jokes because it's just too easy.

Next time I'm in town, let's go pick up some muffies and fur burgers. It's what NPH would do.

Let's pick up some trim at a strip club. The Doogie line always works on strippers.
