Diarrhea... Cha Cha Cha

While I've certainly gotten dollars for doughnuts over the years riding the "Rip on the Tigers" train, going to some games over the last few years w/ Jean & Dan has reawakened the fan w/in, & let's face it, puttin' up 19 runs last night was pretty fuckin' impressive... I don't care who you are: that's quality stuff. The 1st game I ever went to was in 1984 against the Twins. It was a Sunday afternoon game & I went w/ my cousins & their friends. It was July 1st, & we were in town for the Wolverine Tournament, The Official State Sponsored tournament that used to be held in Livonia over the 4th of July weekend every year. It was the final game in a 4 game series, the 1st 3 had been close w/ the Tigers losing on Friday & then winning both on Saturday. As it turns out, they lost 9-0 & Gibson struck out every time he was up, but for some reason I loved him & he was my Tiger then. (In fact, to this very day, I've never been to a winning game. In 2006, Dmitri Young was my Tiger based on the fact that he always looked like he was going to kick someones ass, & based on his arrest record, hindsight suggests that was a pretty good evaluation of him. He had cool hair too. I went to 2 games last year & they lost both. You can read the reviews of the games here & here). While Gibby actually proved to be a quality player, my recent picks have been less than sensical. Of course Todd Jones is solely because he's 9/10s 'stache & you gotta support a guy willing to make that statement. "I kinda suck @ pitching, but check out the sweet inverted devil-horns on my upper lip!" I tell people he's my favorite & they look @ me as though they misunderstood what I said. No one likes Jonesie but me & Leland. After seeing 2 games in a row this week, I've decided to add a 2nd player to my list of favs. Since he is lacking the sweet facial hair, I based this 1 on his sweet name. So w/o further ado, I give you the 2008 Vision's of Ypsi Tiger: Edgar RenterĂa. I imagine he's Daria's fav too since he can empathize w/ the name calling.

Jones' rookie card is hilarious...and you can't argue with what he accomplishes---he's scary--but when they don't ask him to do more then he can, he's pretty much dead on--I'm a Tigers nut...

Magglio is my wife's fav...I gotta go with Pudge...but man o man--this team is so much fun, and its quite obvious we will all be singing the praises of Cabrera soon..

I have always had a baseball addiction, I actually own(or owned) every card that you posted there--though I have not collected for years...yes, I'm a dork..

usually when I go they win--was even at the no-hitter last year..
so, I guess, you stay away---and someone should buy me season tix...

Every. Single. Time. I hear Renteria's name I think (insert Bevis and Butthead voice)"heh heh heh..I've got Renteria!".
Yeah, I'm mature.
And my father's child.

Then I'm not alone... everytime he's up I have to sing, "Renteria, cha cha cha...". Funny that he then became Andre's fave.
Magglio is My Tiger and he did awesome today! I didn't get to see the end of the game since we walked up to get the kids, but that second HR was awesome! And I wasn't even wearing my new lucky Magglio shirt!!

Dmitri Young plays for the Washington Nationals now and his afro is creating quite a stir. The manager said it was distracting the team. How awesome does your 'fro have to be to distract your team? Or how nuts does your manager have to be to make such a statement? Mags is my Tiger too. What does your shirt look like Stephanie? Mine just has his face on the front and #30 on the back.

I hope my new Tiger grows a fro.

I saw that Young was in DC now. I would think his domestic violence would be more distracting than his hair, but I guess in DC people are more used to that. What with Congress and all.

Johnny Cakes' rookie card is one of the best things I've seen.

Somebody needs to give some love to Granderson and Polly. Even though he's only hitting 140.

It's Leyland by the way.

I knew I was spelling it wrong, but I didn't take the time to look it up.

I would say Granderson is certainly one of my favorites too... but not "My Tiger" worthy.

Polly??? Polanco? He's weird looking.

I love Polanco for his weird teethshowing face he makes before he bats. He seems to do best after a good teeth showing. And that forehead! Watch out!! It's crazy!! I totally respect him tho... just love to make fun of him.

Andre got me my Tiger shirt for my b-day, it's a jersey, blue, with Tigers on the front and Mags' name and number on the back. I love it.

How would you get a fro under a baseball cap or batting helmet? I can see that being an issue. Probably requires some bobby pins and a personal hair dresser, that could be distracting...

Apparently you didn't follow the link to Young's hair.
