Endorsements, Recommendations, & Retractions

Endorsement:
The other night, the kids stayed @ their friend's house so we had a little evening to ourselves. We looked into movies or music, but nothing seemed worthwhile so we just walked up to Depot Town for desert before coming home to watch My Name is Earl. On the way there, we were stopped by a woman who wanted us to pet her cat, Mr. B (or Mr. Bee... I'm not certain). Although that was odd, it had nothing on the question her husband asked: "You're Andre the soccer aficionado, aren't you?"
"Ummm... my name is Andre & I like soccer, so I guess so... how did you know that?"
"Oh, I was reading your blog."
This was the 1st time I'd ever had a stranger mention my blog to me. It was pretty weird. I always just assume there are only a few of you faithful readers, but once in a while I get reminded that the blog-o-sphere is a vast place. It turns out, the guy we were talking to is Pete Murdock, former Mayor of Ypsi & current candidate for City Council for Ypsi's 3rd Ward. We talked for a bit & he's a good guy. Aside from the fact that he reads Visions of Ypsi, he really seems to be prepared to work for Ypsi & the people who live here. His main issue is fighting the city income tax which I have mixed feelings about, but over all I'm pretty sure it's a bad idea. I'm down w/ income tax in general, but it doesn't seem like the right solution for this town. If you happen to live in the 3rd Ward, remember this: we @ Visions of Ypsi are officially endorsing Pete Murdock for city council. I don't know who else has endorsed him, but in general, endorsements don't come much bigger than this. I think we can take the fact that he's been reading this blog as an unofficial endorsement of the blog... just a little socio-political logging rolling.Recommendation:
Years ago, I used to drink the hell out of Yerba Mate tea. I don't why, but for some reason I just stopped. Well, @ work today, I notice that Guayaki is now making a pre-bottled version of Yerba Mate Ice Tea. I had the regular, unsweetened & it is fantastic. If you've never had Yerba mate, o yourself a favor. Not only is there a nice caffeine kick, but it's got some sort of clarifying effects to it. It seems to have the same effect as listening to Mozart is supposed to have. Although, I've never really noticed Mozart temporarily raising my IQ, usually he just pisses me off. In which case, Yerba Mate has a better effect on me. In fact, after I drank it I came to a (maybe rather obvious) understanding of Derrida that had never occur ed to me before. While deciding if you should vote for Pete Murdock, you should definitely drink a Yerba mate Unsweetened Iced Tea.Retraction:
The other day, I claimed that Jack Black is in Wall-E. As was pointed out by multiple people, I was wrong so I would just like to clear the air a& retract that statement. I refuse to retract my assertion about his sell-out status though. He was in Tenacious D & High Fidelity & has gone on to be in a slew of shit-ass family movies & thoughtless comedies... not to mention his hosting of the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards... a total hack move. Although, my kids definitely love him now.

I'm not sure if I'm in the 3rd ward, but today when I sign my lease for my new apartment, I will officially become a resident of the great city of Ypsilanti! Howdy neighbor!

I know, isn't it weird when you find out people you don't really know read your blog? I haven't told my family about mine, except for my sister, and then my aunt found it by googling my grandfather's name. And that was weird, too.

I wonder if Pete reads my blog? Hi Pete! I remember way back when you were the mayor, and I would vote for you too but I'm a west sider. An east sider in spirit, though, because I think the east siders are a little funkier. But I do like to walk to be able to walk to the pool.

Um, that should say, "I do like to be able to walk to the pool."
